I’m only above 60 pages in by enthralled. Carr’s use of first person plural works really effectively in the small town, Donegal setting to create immediacy, community ownership and relationship with the characters. I don’t recall seeing this since The Virgin Suicides. I was born in the neighbouring county so the speech idioms, patterns and pace just are my mother tongue.
