I've learned that in the holiday season I prefer lighter, fast-paced festive reads, and this one doesn't really seem to be that. But it's the last Christmas-themed book that's been sitting on my Kindle since last December, so I decided to start early. As it's a historical romance told mostly in letters, I plan to savour it through autumn as a gentle lead-in to the festive season. Fingers crossed it's lovely!

A couple of days ago my Kindle glitched and left me with only some unread Christmas novels. But it was late and I really wanted to read something from the device ('cause dimmed lights) before sleep, so I just picked one of those. And now, with snow falling in Estonia, I guess the timing turned out spot on. Soon I'll be shopping for Christmas deco or something:')

I remember being pleasantly surprised by Midnight’s Valentine last year and thinking I’d definitely check out more from this author. So I picked up this one… and now I keep wondering wtf is going on, why I’m still reading, and how much weirder it can get🤦🏽‍♀️ but I’ve already sunk too much of my precious time into it, and it’s a quick read, so might as well see how it goes 🥲

Took a break at 25% and picking this back up now. Tbh I still can’t click with Feyre or her sisters. The middle one's a bore and while the oldest really intrigues me, her past behaviour makes it hard to root for her. The messy family dynamics and Feyre’s Under the Mountain arc still keep bothering me. Rhys was the highlight in earlier books, now I don't care as much. At least his crew keeps things interesting..

Update: I don’t hate it, but I’m not enjoying it much either. The author seems to mock his characters too often, like exaggerated gossip that feels uncomfortable. So far, I’m struggling to like any of them. At least I’ve dropped the nagging feeling that I know what happened, though I still have suspicions. Hoping for some decent character growth as I read on.

I'm not a fan of polyreading. It stresses me out. Yet, here I am adding another book :')

Not sure why I'm still on it. There's very little I've taken from it. But oh, she's so bad at DNF-ing books, she doesn't enjoy reading.

I definitely prefer sci-fi movies to books. Haven't been hooked, but I must say, starting with a heavy hardcover in Estonian didn't help. Now that I've switched to an English Kindle edition, it's getting much better.
