I like that Jody Gerhman took her time setting these characters up and making them, if not likable, at least understandable.

But now, shit just got hella drastic.

I know, I'm reading too many books at once. But I borrowed this from someone and I want to return it to them this Sunday.

Barry Gifford's ability to write two or three page scenes that feel like complete stories is amazing. If you struggle with writing scenes, ones that are either too long or unfocused, this is book is a great tutorial on how to write ones that feel like natural slices of life, but also coherent and focused, with no unnecessary elements.

This is an absorbing read, and I'm also gathering a few nuggets to make my half-Nigerian character more authentic.

This book is doing a good job of articulating why I decided to leave the tech industry.

This book has a lot of 80s references.

I'll give this book credit for sticking with its conceit and taking its time to develop the romance. More than halfway through and the two characters whose romance is the subject of the book (I assume) still haven't met in person.

My cousin suggested I read this book after I told her about GREY SWAN. Although I doubt the plausibility of a superflu wiping out so much of the human race so quickly, as a device it works well to set up a post-apocalyptic world that is not environmentally damaged, but contains much less humanity than it did previously.

This book is so good. Seriously, it's the first book I've read in a while that I've totally fallen in love with.

Read the intro chapters and then skipped ahead to the Romance section, since my book/movie best fits in that genre, at least of the ones that this book covers.
