So far this books is good. I like reading about Liana and her loving Greek family and her difficult mother in law. Knowing that the book is leading up to the horrible 1923 events in Smyrna perpetrated by the Turks is giving me anxiety, though!

So many people that I know gave this one poor reviews… so I almost didn’t even start it. But I am so glad I did. I thought it was excellent. I have a crush on Ledger FOR SURE. Anyway, I am no good at writing these reviews, but this book kept me interested the entire time - I was picturing the people and places and was moved to tears more than once. I recommend.
