Obviously written before the russian invasion, as performance of the weapons matches the Russian bluster not the actual performance (i.e spetnaz performance). Makes it a bit of an eye roll

Impressed that the author is able to have me interested in so many threads of a story at once.

Excellent opening chapters, somehow the fauna and flora are described in a way that makes them hard to picture, im not sure how other books have done this better but they have.

I thought this would be a hunt or trying to trace lost gold stolen by the nazi's, but i looks at a massively overlooked aspect of hitlers reasoning for invading other countries, and examples of where the nazi's couldve been stopped easily in the early years

Odd discussion of terrorist insider trading. What has this got to do with death of money? Discussion of confirmation bias, lets see if he is guilty. Apot on so far of china etc. Buying gold and trying to make an alt reserve currency

Macka is on page 50 of 356 of The Easy Day was Yesterday - The extreme life of an SAS soldier
An enjoyable read splashed with plenty of aussie humour, it is strange though that the story is tied back to something that doesnt seem like the worst event in his life. But i guess it was life changing for him, and If you based it around the worst memory where would you go to from there? The story would end up markedly more negative than it is.
Perhaps his childhood? Dave googins esk but less depressing.

The thought of the US convincing the Saudis to increase oil production to lower the price and push the russians out of afghanistan is an interesting one that I have not come across elsewhere, and although there is no rock solid proof it is plausible.

Getting turned down for green team seems more like they pick up on the fact he doesnt get along with others or is less than suited for a team environment given his constant need to be better than everyone.

Sick of hearing the words 'hard motherfu*ker', what a sad lonely life always trying to be the best and comparing yourself to the next man. Sad when the OIC tries to get him out with the team and he bangs on about how hard his life was. Proves he is trying to belong by being the best.

Overexagerated. Lack of backstops, no study on how to repair a bike. One example where he goes to a race unprepared, no salt tabs etc. Doesnt do as well as expected and then says he gave it his all, next race he scopes out pit stops and petrol stations etc. And does much better. That would mean first time wasnt the best he could give. Surprisingly overlooks the mental aspects. All sounds like childhood trauma.

Impressive verging on stupid. A lot of what he was saying during the running sounded more like being prepared rather than calusing the mind, going in unprepared was a recipe for disaster. If only he had put as much effort into his training as he did on his marriages. Over hyped and a lot of it sounded like a hashtag sales pitch.

Grandious inventions and even more grandious claims. I found this to be more a look at economics and the commercialisation. The quickest most effocient bird gets the worm. Also an argument for public funding of science, how far may he have gone if not forced to chase cash?

I find the word 'spy' to be something thrown around quite lightly, and perhapsits due to a lack of modern spy novels as detailedas this. When aspy works well the impact is staggering, when they reach the level of kim its staggering. Tothink that if notfor kim postwar germany would look remarkably different

Damn I got sucked in by the spy twist. All the signs were there, but I suspect the patsy, which is what the spy wanted me to think... well played.
I really love a book that is able to fool me like that and I felt the same sting the king did.
I even had to flip back a few pages to catch all the subtle hints. Nice one Mike.

This will be one of those 'sixth sense' things, where il never be able to read it the same ag

Il start by saying that im a believer after reading 'witness to rosewell'.
I find that this is a better book to continue on with rather than UFO by Leslie Kean. Not only does it reference some other excellent books, but made me feel I may not have given several enough time when i first read them (Aztec).
Some chapters on the book ran on far too delonge, says some are mocked and then mocks? .

Excellent book so far, although it jumps around a bit it allows exciting bits to shine while others fall into a lull and vice versa.
The end of the first book is when things really start to heat up with the political twists and turns beginning.
Fiction as it really should be.

Finally at the end we get to some interesting content! A look at the chain of evidence for the presidents body and possible alterations to both autopsy photos and records. This detailed look is very interesting and well evidenced.. the video tampering not so much, but il roll with it. Finally we are getting some meat on these bones, some thought inducing ideas.. but nope, book just ends with an online book sales pitc

I dont think this will ever be solved, but i think other books come closer. Time has tainted memories and stories have grown.
If a person was murdered, I bet I could find at least one person that knew the cat and thought the cat did it. That doesnt make it so.

Why is this even a book? It feels like the main premise is to tell his pub story that he once visited the KGB. Towards the end he says that all his thoughts and data was detailed in 'the man who knew too much'.. so I should have read that? put that in the intro?
Il never read that because i got sucked in on this.

I was expecting a story that looks at events, pieces them together in chroni order to show a theory of what went down.
Instead it feels like a jfk investigators pin board has been converted to paper. A memo here, a source there, a browning newspaper clipping thats fluttered to the floor, it all ends up as a mess.
Is this 'murder she wrote - a day in dallas'? Am i expected to take this info and inferences t solve it?

Seemingly less a JFK trail walk than a JFK rapids ride. I dont get what the author is wanting me to understand, the sheer amount of FBI memos, interviews, references to comments by obscure people etc makes me think its a 'CIA who dun it' to angle but I just cant tell.
I have a feeling we are at the point where he will tell me each piece of evidence and why it is applicable, but currently its a wilderness of mirrors
