I regret to inform the public that this book is still really boring and I am FIGHTING to get through every chapter

I love my gal Agatha but she says some out of pocket things about Persian people in this book.

I fear this book may have nothing to do with Ophelia from Hamlet and it’s just the main character’s name

I’m not totally sure what I think of the writing style so far. I think I like it. It reads a lot more like a myth than it reads like Shakespeare. And definitely more than it reads like fanfiction, which is really what this book is, let’s be honest.

Really not sure what to think of this book. The author primarily follows the narratives surrounding gender/masculinity during American history which I think can be helpful to narrow your focus a little bit. But also if you’re trying to define ‘healthy/good masculinity’ in a way that transcends culture, it feels odd and maybe too limiting to use so narrow an anthropological lens.

This might be in my top five books. Every chapter makes me feel just gleeful at this point.

Book is very good though. I think I know who did it.

This book is too long. We are on the third iteration of ‘get some information, have a fight, do some travel,’ and I’m pretty sure there’s a fourth coming and tbh I am over it. I still have 6.5 hours left of this audiobook.

Subtlety? Who is she? Cause she’s nowhere in this book.

Really engaging so far! I’m very interested in seeing where the rest of this book goes. The main issue I had with Eragon, the author’s previous series, is that while the premise was super fun, the story was not much more than a simple Hero’s Journey, with accompanying tropes and conventions and not a lot of heart. I wonder how much the author has grown since that book - there are hints of the same style.

Well this is wrecking me

This vocab is crazy. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to look up so many words.

Apparently my favorite hobby as of late is to start books and not finish them so let’s find out how long this’ll take to complete. But I’m actually liking the opening a good bit so far. The prose is very fun and interesting and I’m looking forward to Jane’s progression.

Oh this is such a perfect setup I’m going to love this book.

I’m on my quest to read all the marriage books so I can know which ones to NOT recommend.

We’re starting off pretty strong! Teamwork and mutuality is the strongest theme here with a heavy focus on stats. Honestly though, I’m thinking/hoping that in 50 years a lot of this advice won’t be widely useful because it’s common knowledge.

Ok I’m beginning to be won over. These are cute sweet stories.

I’ve gotta say, this book is … not good. But I want to finish the trilogy so I will push through.

A friend recently told me she was worried that this series wouldn’t hold up as an adult and so was hesitant to reread. But I have no such compunction.
