I've met Alfred Hitchcock and Flora Robson. Merle Oberon was an actor I loved to dislike. There was something phony about her, no matter the character she played. I'm beginning to understand my reaction to her.

Miss Cicely's autobio is very businesslike, very factual, but still gives nothing away. Miss Cicely loves keeping her business to herself. She says so several times, and you should believe what people say about themselves.

Still, I learned of her daughter for the first time. I learned the name of Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis's daughter. I learned CWIII was married to Gloria Foster.

This read is very informative about how Murray interpreted the 14th Amendment and persuaded others to use her approach to address sex discrimination. There is a great discussion of the ERA and some explanation of why it never passed.

I've just reached Moynihan's declaration of "matriarchy" being the problem with the Black family. What a maroon.

I truly dislike the way the author uses sex as equal to gender.

I don't like this story. It is tedious. The characters are tedious. I detest relationship stories and this read confirms my detestation.

I was quite expecting something else when I began this book. I hate relationship stories. Jude and Sue are annoying beyond words. Both are children, capricious, and generally stupid. I cannot wait to be finished with this nonsense.

Reading this as well as Pearl Buck and finding I like Buck's straightforward language much better than Eliot's florid prose. Still, I want to know how Marner recovers from the loss of his fortune and if the Cass brothers get their just desserts.

On Chapter 2, Street Cred. So far, laugh out loud funny with a slightly tangy edge.

I find it dreadful that I dislike the central characters in this drama, though I appreciate the immigrant insights into American culture.
