I need to get over how disappointing the language in this book is, and I'm looking at the reviews and wondering if EYE am overthinking it.

Parts of this book is already painful to get through coming off the heel/heal of Curdella Forbes. Gosh man... is it the editor or the writer who is to blame?

Decided to take a break from Afropessimism and pick up Citizen as my alternative interrogation of black humanity and LOL. This is not much better. This is just adding to my new 'Fuck Intersectionality' thoughts right about now. I can feel the greater pull to re-read Sylvia Wynter.

I'm screaming! Why are these kids so smart!? Oh gosh. I'm enjoying this book so much! I haven't felt this way about brilliant kids since... Matilda? LOL.

I'm so uncomfortable! Lol. I thought this was going to be a sexy book about a messy 20-something black girl who was sophisticated but in an entry-level job but no. And I've gone from wanting to clean her apartment, to telling her to get out of di people dem yard and lef dem pickney.

I haven't laughed this hard at a child's mess in a long time. Kojo is a character lolol.
I started this, for some reason, thinking it was German and translated to English.

So far, this analysis seems... flat.

Every time I read this book I'm reminded that I do not have the capacity, nor do I want to be, anyone's parent.
There's so much responsibility involved in raising a good, open, and critical human being...
