Got halfway through a handful of books last year, hoping to finish those up and then some this year!

I adore the movie adaptation, but they are quite different. In the novel you get to understand Pat and be inside his head and see his reasoning for everything. In the movie you are seeing him from an outsider’s perspective. I also like the way Nikki’s character is portrayed in the novel as well.

After perusing the library catalog for about 20 minutes I couldn’t find a book that spoke to me. So I selected the randomize option and this was the first suggestion. I don’t tend to reach for contemporaries… or romance… or contemporary romance ?? BUT this story is kind of great. It reminds me of my favorite movie “While You Were Sleeping” and even has some of the same character names (added bonus!)

The writing/story/plot have been fine until now. I send screenshots of the silly, goofy throwaway lines to my friend so we can laugh together lol It reads very much like an episode of a detective tv show. It’s simple, but keeps my attention.

Somewhere, one upon a time, I read the first few chapters of this book. I’m not sure when, but the moment I started reading it I was met with familiarity. It wasn’t on my January TBR list, but I needed a little break from the giants I’ve been trudging through lately. This writing reminds me greatly of Mitch Albom’s whom I’ve liked in the past..

1. I can’t get over how badasss Manon is.
2. That scene with Elide and Lorcan made me so uncomfortable that I laughed hysterically because I didn’t know what else to dooo. 😩
3. It’s about time Dorian joined the party! I realized several chapters ago that he’s been very isolated from the group and literally knows nothing about what’s going on lolol

I‘ve never been a book tab girly, but I wish I had marked all the times I’ve cried thus far. I feel like every other chapter brings me to tears either in sadness or joy or fear or justice or injustice. I love these characters and I’m routing for every single one of them. Finally back on Aedion’s perspective and I’m nervous as heck 🥴

As far as I got last night. Still got a fever. Pacing is better, but the info-dumping is a lil wild. Idk if JKR did it all intentionally or just decided the trajectory while actively writing the novel.

I have thoughts. I have a fever. I am sick. I love this. I’m emotional. The pacing is wonky. It’s okay tho. :)

So I’ve been meaning to finish the Harry Potter series for about 10+ years now? I’m getting close, just one more book to go! I think the moment I finish Tower of Dawn I’ll need to pick up The Deathly Hallows immediately.

I was hoping to have both the Harry Potter and Throne of Glass series done, but I am having a great time savoring every word of every page from both series!

I think the coincidences are becoming a bit cliché and forced, but overall pretty good. Lulls here and there, but it’s really tying all together and the lore…? Ummm, forget the spiders! Maas is the all time champion of spinning the perfect web. As much as I may not love this novel it is still very, very good. I really do love this series and it holds a very special place in my heart! Onward and forward.

Same progress! Just an update that I did check this out from the library again to pick up where I left off. It left enough of an impression for me to keep thinking about it on and off over these past few weeks. I want to give it an honest go.

I’m appreciative of the solid introduction to this new continent, but it really only started picking up around page 400.

I had to ask myself “If this involved characters I adored, would I feel the same way?” The answer is yes. I don’t hate it, the writing and world building is great, but man… I do think this could’ve stayed a novella.

I’ve had my reservations with this book purely because it’s form Chaol’s perspective. He has always seemed so one dimensional. I’m glad that Maas took the time to flesh out both his and Nesryn’s characters a bit. The added lore is a plusssss
