This book should have a warning label. I do believe the author’s story needs to be told. We need to be aware of the horrid, nightmarish things that have happened to kids in the foster system.

With that being said, the two instances of fairly graphic child sexual abuse was triggering to say the least. I felt physically nauseous and was affected mentally (and not in a good way).

Dnf.

I was immensely enjoying this book and then a spider alien came into the picture. And I just got stuck.

If someone else has read this, can you tell me if the book switches to being less about the aliens?

I had to stop reading this book. Love Erik Larson’s writing, but this book is terrifying. Too much for me to handle.
