My lord, this book really needed more editing. So far I've spotted "you're" in the wrong spot, stray punctuation, and on this page, "...their primary was task to regain..." I feel like I'm having a stroke lmao

Just finished Silver Key, which is probably one of my favorites so far. One of the more fantasy-based stories—and I find I tend to prefer those from Lovecraft’s work but a good chunk of them are so steeped in racist bullshit it’s impossible to fully enjoy them :/

This is SO good so far, god. I love the protagonist, the prose, the worldbuilding, the pacing. It's so full of flavor, I feel like I've been starving for a book like this ;v;

It's so heavy-handed and the protagonist is exceptionally whiny but goddamnit it makes me feel something to see a character go through the same mental agony that I did when I came out to myself ;n;

literally every time I go to open this book I feel so enthusiastic about it until I start reading, and then it's like the second my eyes hit the page, I'm immediately bored

in the midst of my intense boredom with this book, Du Silbena Datia reached out to take me in a chokehold and dredge up repressed memories of my elementary school self composing an arrangement of it for voice and piano that i still somehow remember now

God, Seth Dickinson's turn of phrase is so incredible. I don't feel like any other book has made me feel such raw pain.
