Although this is not the type of book I usually read, this book had me captivated from the first page. Part thriller, part romance, part history lesson (although liberties have been taken with history), I simply could not put it down. Taking place during the early Roman Empire, the dialogue felt very contemporary and I found that some of the protagonist's philosophies resonated with current times. Exciting read!
