Shit got real, then got real again, then again.

Okay okay finally some answered questions. 1) Tamlin took mercy on her bc of what he saw his father do as ruler and he hates that. 2) He likes her because she knows what it’s like to protect and work for her family. He related to her with that through her painting. And I guess aside from that we’re just supposed to understand he thinks she’s hot.

I still don’t get why he’s interested in her. Clearly we’re supposed to understand that he IS, but they never explained that or set that up. He showed mercy by not killing right away and then basically since her arrival at his home, the book has hinted at his interest. WHY!? It makes more sense NOW as he’s learning more about her, but the book started out with him liking her. This is annoying.

Well! This got interesting. First of all, I don’t trust Taylor and Poppy as far as I can throw them. Keira is trustworthy. The dynamic between Alex and Wren is more complicated than expected but it certainly explains all of the tension and why neither can simply “let it go”. I also highly relate to this dynamic of Alex being the odd man out in the group. I still think Roza is hiding something. I’m intrigued.

Finally back at it

So…Tamlin’s whole motivation for keeping this girl is because he’s “done enough killing”? It doesn’t really explain why he is nice to her though. I wonder what that’s about. Also, I was convinced the high fey could read human minds but apparently they can smell fear and are highly observant. Okay. I’m still wondering what Tamlin’s true motivation is. Obviously being set up for a love angle. But WHY?

I don’t know why I started this one other than curiosity and the fact I’ve been getting back into Booktube. I’m actually grit hating it. But there is a big issue I’m having with the story right now which is, why does Tamlin care about this girl at all? He made a huge show of being angry about his friend’s death just to turn around and be nice? Didn’t the book describe him as “merciless”? Whats up.

Okay okay okay … I can kind of see the appeal of these kinds of stories. Still not really my thing, they seem like a better written Hallmark movie, at least by this author. And the friend assisted dick pick is the first genuine big laugh from me. Very funny.

I never read romance but this is enjoyable enough so far. I picked it up because it’s set in Minnesota. It has the cheesy banter that reminds me why I don’t care for this genre (overly quippy and clichéd), but like I said, it’s enjoyable enough. I’m more interested in the part of the story that involves Alexis being conflicted with her job and family. And of course, Taylor Swift was mentioned 🙄🙄

It’s giving me The Shining vibes

I’m a little confused. How is “any writer who gets chosen for the retreat instantly becomes famous” yet they all have to sign NDA’s and their names are kept secret?? Anyways, there is a slight twist early in this story that is kind of exciting and makes you want to read on. However, my tacos are ready.

Hmm…a character described as a fat activist is named Ursula. Subtle.

So far I can’t put it down! I already know the story but the writing is keeping me at the edge of my seat. I fell asleep with my ear buds in.

I’m so excited to finally read one of these great courses books all the way through:)

The descriptions of food alone are entertaining me. I loved hearing about growing up in the 30’s in NY.
