The reality of the gospel’s self-identity is the self-identity of the crucified and risen Jesus. As risen, he is the final future who ever opens new promises beyond those already made-All gospel address and response is in his name and to him, so that he is the free subject of this conversation...he can be at once fixed object and innovative subject because part of what we remember is exactly that he is risen
