Emily is reading Constance (Constance, #1)
This book has the unfortunate problem of having a fascinating world and premise but an absolutely insufferable main character.

Emily is finished with Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good
When it's been weeks since I've last cracked this open and the thought of doing so exhausts me, it's time to shelf it.

I am a huge supporter of enthusiastic consensual sex of all kinds while also remaining critical of the idea of consent in a society

Man this book knows how to pull my heartstrings! Green relates to us a memory of no longer being comforted by his teddy bear on his tenth birthday and the accompanying heartache of knowing one's childhood is never coming back in such a poignant and vulnerable way. I just wanna go back in time and give little him a hug!

Emily is 50% done with Delusions of Gender: How Our Minds, Society, and Neurosexism Create Difference
Recently I picked this up again after a few months of it on the shelf and I'm so glad I did. Every chapter is as fascinating as the last. The author balances information with humor really well, keeping me engaged with the material and also entertained.

Loving this so far! The character's backgrounds are intersecting in really interesting ways. I'm looking forward to the reveal of Alix and Kelley's shared history to Emira.

I'm having a difficult time getting into this one. I find my eyes glazing over with all the slow, flowery, poetic language. I want to shout, "just get to the point already!!" The world building is severely lacking and most of the characters, Cedar especially, are so flat and uninteresting. I'm hoping that it picks up soon because if not, I'll have to shelf this. Disappointing.

I think I'm shelving this one for good. I keep meaning to finish it, especially because I'm almost done, but it's like pulling teeth. Disappointing because I usually love Backman. Oh well!

Unfortunately I'm struggling to get through this one. I devoured A Man Called Ove and Anxious People in less than a week but this title isn't flowing quite as nicely as the others for me. Too much focus on the imaginary Land of Almost-Awake. I'll get invested in what the characters are doing irl and then bam, another full page on fairytales with made-up names that seem to have little to do with the current situation.
