Richard obsessing over whether henry is gay is killing me

I’ve been struggling to read much over the summer but now I’m ready to try and finish this book. It’s not a bad reading slump book even though it’s slow. The mystery keeps me invested because you only get the tiniest morsels of info at a time. Dr. Roland saw a “friend” of Richard’s walking at night? What does that mean?

Quite a nuanced scene showing bunny’s misogyny and homophobia, I enjoyed that

The anti-capitalism stuff is starting to get grating because they keep making the same exact points in every conversation. I’m thinking back to the Broken Earth series as a comparison of how to do this right. You don’t have to write long monologues to make a point about society. It won’t convince anyone reading this book.

I really like the stuff about what consciousness is because I think about it all the time

The fact that they’re giving him Trader Joe’s snacks to comfort him is so fucking funny past 3 in the morning

Call me crazy but Aerius being gay kind of attests to the fact that these women like the idea of men, not actually being with them. They’re in love with each other.

Knew it

Can’t decide who’s funnier, vignette or cupcake. Vignette is so ridiculous with her “create new forms” shit.

Cupcake deciding the lion is evil after he critiqued her is so funny and so real.

People are saying this book ruins the illusion of the first book, and I don’t know how true that is yet, but so far I’m absolutely loving learning about cupcakes insecurities and hearing her be human. She’s a victim to the cult mentality too, and I’m so excited to hear about her and everyone else’s spiral into madness.

Off to a great start.

The author understands women surprisingly well. It’s not perfect but it’s note-able for a male author.
