17 chapters into this book. I feel like my reading time has been limited today- but still loving this book. I have a lot to talk about in my review. ♥️

Am I toxic for really enjoying their toxic romance? Who knows?! But I can’t put this book down. I don’t know if you can call this romance- this is more soap opera drama with their toxic marriage and the slutty mean girl mistress. 🍿 but already this book is more satisfying than my other read. 😬

I found this hardcover copy edition at Goodwill. Overjoyed at my find. Started it this morning as a side book. This series has been all over Booktok lately. Never read anything from this author. Happy to be in this time period- think I’m burned out from westerns.

Chapter 4 and I’m not sure how I feel about this one honestly. I’m invested - but there are some cringe things. The writing is definitely old.

Chapter 2 update. 🫣 Bittner is known for her brutal controversial writing. This is my first book by her. FMC is running away and accepting a mail order bride ad (love mail order bride😍) because her aunt has died and her uncle is a PERV 💀.. I N C E S T warning. ⚠️

⚠️ Chapter 1 has a brutal depressing birth scene of a Native girl who was r a p e d. Figured I’d leave a trigger warning for anyone interested. I love the realistic complexities of historical fiction writing but figured I’d give a courtesy warning to my friends.

I’ve had so little reading time over the last week. Happy to get back to my reading time. Hopefully I can finish this today or in the morning. It’s SO GOOD. 👌🏽

This has been a slow read and I can’t tell if it’s the book or the result of a busy holiday schedule. I’ve had the busiest week and still trying to read. 🫣

My favorite vintage romance book booth is only open on the weekends- so now I’m excitedly waiting for it to be Saturday so I can go dig through the books and find a physical copy of Beauty and the Beast by Hannah Howell. I can’t wait to photograph it. ✨

95 pages in and this book just mentioned Emma of Normandy. 😭 I’m so proud. My Roman Empire.

The virtual voice on audible is the same one that reads Bobbi Smith books. So I’m in heaven. But this is also on Kindle too! 👌🏼

My reading time has been strained this week. I guess Thanksgiving week vibes. BUT I’m in a weird predicament. I love the writing in this book. So easy to binge. Don’t want to stop. AND YET 🫣 it’s cringe and making me question myself. This is a stalker romance. 🚩 MMC. And I’m like 🤔 am I a dark romance reader? I don’t know.

I started this book this morning and I’m instantly a FAN. The slave to lover trope that Viking books are known for here is so good because the FMC + MMC chemistry is 🔥 so good. The banter in this book is great. Literally binging. 😍

Despite disliking book two- I’m giving this one a try. I could have stopped the series but here I go. 🙃
