Krystal literally express her potential of maybe being aromatic (saying love aka romantic love isn’t for her), and the ace-spec main character just SHUTS HER OFF AND SAY “it’s not possible (romantic) love isn’t for you!!!” ARE YOU SERIOUS??? In an ace lesbian book we’re apparently saying being aromantic is impossible? 😭

Okay the romance is growing on me a little

All my narrative criticism can be swiped aside because this is the best book on ace spectrum and experience discussion other than IS LOVE THE ANSWER? the manga that I have read and I read that like a few years ago

I think this book is simultaneously the best in terms of examining and exploring ace lesbian identity which I rarely see as a ace lesbian (especially reflecting on how different ace-spec identities have a different degree of relationship and spectrum regarding feeling surrounding sex). But also has the least interesting love interest, like…0 personality 0 chemistry. 😭

Okay the plot is a lil outlandish but the main character is way too relatable I am down for this lol

Omg seeing the words where a protagonist openly refers to herself as a asexual lesbian healed something in me jshejwiiwk Idk why I needed this but it’s the first time I saw those actual words ever in a sapphic romance where someone explicitly identifies as an asexual lesbian aaaaa

I don’t know how to describe this author’s writing style other than it is extremely real but also extremely white, especially because the apathetic nihilism that is set a near apocalyptic global warming and rising sea level is killing everyone but the story is very much focused on everyday life of having a Starbucks (?) job and finding yourself and mundanity where even protests are treated as unserious. Lmao.

I am enjoying this leagues beyond how much I enjoyed Our Wives Under the Sea (and I did enjoy that one it was a solid 3 stars that I read like 5 years ago at least). But this book really feels like how trad publishing will only allow the author to tell the story she really wish to tell after the success of our wives under the sea and the quality shows

This book is starting to grow on me. This story slowly shows you that it is set after global warming caused sea level rise with subtle world building. All three sisters are queer (one is divorcing her wife, one is in a committed relationship with a they/them enby partner and the youngest one is kind of a lesbian Playgirl). Their relationship dynamic is extremely real and complex.

This is easy to read like Our Wives Under the Sea, and I’m remembering what the author does best regarding her writing style, she writes in these simple, detached and deliberately depressing prose which reflects the characters’ mentality in a nihilistic fashion. I never knew if I liked it in Our Wives Under the Sea, and I don’t know if I like it in this book so far, but it is distinct

Look I need something shorter and it’s been like almost half a decade since I read Our Wives Under the Sea. That was a three stars read and I hope this one might be better as the concept is interesting and I’m apparently reading sapphic horror for the entire sapphic September just bc I’m me sorry lol

Gosh this book is so tender that even its horror is such a tender concept of lesbian love. To be a lesbian is wish to be eaten by your partner for a hundred times over and be fulfilled by it. Aaaa

A sapphic horror book that is extremely gory but reads also as enchanting as a fairytale. What an absolute magnificent writer, I want to inhale the rest of the book all in one go but I should probably sleep now

I know one of the mc is a fish monster but like…the way Morgan Dante described the transformation absolutely feels like how having a chronic illness feel like. The way it morphs one’s body, the denial, the kind of body horror that isn’t horror but real life. Yeah idk just really loving this book
