I'm not even halfway through the book, but I'm already overcome by the urge to buy a copy of my own just so I can zealously hurl it at anyone around me who mentions wanting to make art. It's such an accessible, honest view of the journey of learning art, and so good at showing what guides and tutorials only discuss.

This'll be on hold for a bit as I had to return the book for now. :[

This is a great, fresh read even amidst a plethora of royal intrigue/ 'blood is my power' YA novels. It seems to be teeing up for a sequel (I'm towards the end right now) and I'm excited to see where things go!

I don't like putting down books early, but good god does it come out swinging with the antisemitism. :/ May drop this one soon.

Morgenstern's descriptive prose is lovely- and incredibly dense. Whether this is going to delight or annoy me remains to be seen.

Continuing my trend of rereading books I liked as a kid.

I'm pretty disappointed- I really liked The Poisoner's Handbook, but Blum really overloaded this one with dry details and extensive history (not all necessary).

Really liking this so far. It feels fresh even amidst a sea of other YA scifi novels.

Going back and adding reviews to my read books in a fit of madness. Not sure why I decided I had this kind of free time.

So far it's been a journey into my own personal hell but I had to start my author sampler sometime.
