So I’ve found out this book is only as long as it is because they added a romance arc into the modern day pov too… sighs. I like this writing but horror/thriller books sometimes don’t need romance

The characters are a riot, going to be comparing them to other series for years to come. I haven’t felt this strongly for a group in a story for a while- probably Leviathan Wakes

This is what I wanted The Genesis of Misery to be. It is restoring my faith in cult dystopian sci-fi novels.

We appreciate a complex twist in this house (even if it’s a little predictable)

The name ‘Hubert Quirtle’ exists in this book and I could not be happier

Loving the cozy vibes with obvious prep for a coming-of-age adventure. It’s strangely reminding me of Howl’s Moving Castle but no romance, just fae vibes

PART 3 BAY-BEEEEE!! !

I think I’ve figured out all the rest of the plot now, which isn’t a bad thing. Now to see if the book can still surprise me.

Stopped at Ch 17. Already loving this book WAY more with all the new info and character interactions. Can’t wait to read more tomorrow!

Ngl the prologue did not get me excited for this book, but luckily the first chapter re-centered me enough to keep going. I’m enjoying how fast paced it is and the writing is cute.

Liking it more and more

Happy to get started with this. The characterization is ok, if a little idealized. We’ll see if we get to see more idiosyncrasies the more it develops.

I might have to review this one, I have so many complicated feelings about it.
