This book is amazing. Haven’t read a good fantasy adventure in a while

For once, I’d like to read a book about Syria that doesn’t radicalize and hate on Islam. Come on. Two chapters in and the author is already speaking condescendingly about scholars of tafsir and his religious dad.

Opened the first page and I’m fighting back tears. I will NEVER forget what Bashar Al Assad has put my Syrian brothers and sisters through. NEVER.

I see every Syrian I know and love in the words of these books

my toxic trait is that I can’t read as a leisure activity. it has to consume every second of my day or I can’t read at all

the way it’s looking I might just end up reading one of Pally’s picture books to finish my reading challenge 🙂

Ibn Qayyim رحمه الله concludes that music is the worst of all types of لهو الحديث:

[…] it intoxicates the mind and distracts it from the Qur’ān more so than other things from the various types of baseless falsehood that distract. And it is also dangerous due to the severity in which the people incline towards it and are influenced by it.
