A very good book, but another story of men controlling women. But this is also about memory and competing versions of events. I watched some documentaries to learn more about “the troubles” in Ireland to help me with the setting (1920s through 1940s). There is a fascinating pm, too.

This is really good. The author has been shortlisted for the booker. This particular book has been adapted to film with Vanessa Redgrave as the main character in the Advanced years. I had to stop reading the book and review some Irish history from the 1920s and 30s about the independence war and the Civil War. Anyway, it’s very well written and after I finished the book I hope to watch the film.

I received a copy of this book by a co-worker who is a member of another Christian denomination. I am very honored that she is sharing her faith with me, so I am reading with care how Piper amplifies New Testament verses (often by cross reference and by exploring the Greek language of the original text). The focus is on the Second Coming. I’m old, so my death is the way I’m visualizing seeing Jesus.
