I just cannot finish this book. I'm so confused; people rave about this story, but I can't do it anymore. Maybe I cannot stand the tension of the tree that's so obviously going to be cut down. I must be in planet crisis denial. It's me, not you, Richard Powers.

I can't remember the last time I gave up on a book but I'm feeling that life is too short to persevere with Swing Time. Rambling can be really interesting when it finally swoops in to make a point but unfortunately, for this reader, Smith's rambling appears to be inconclusive.
