This is a fun novel but I think I should have started the series with #1 instead of #7 🙄

Started this novel on the recommendation of my friend Brittany and although this is a darker novel than my usual reads, it seems very promising. The fact that are are several narrators to this audio book is also quite refreshing. I look forward to discovering how the story unfolds during my next commutes.

Like the other Brennert novels, this one didn't disappoint. After finishing the book, I checked out Palisades on google and was amazed to see how much true elements were incorporated in the story : the Rosenthals, Bee Kyle, Melba Valle, the CORE flyers, ... An excellent read.

This novel is just what I need to remind me why I shouldn't let a bad experience like the S. King's novel deter me from diving headfirst into the world of words. I already feel that Palisades Park will join the other Brennert novel, Moloka'i, on the favourites shelf.

After 3+ hours into this 30 hours audiobook, I am *this* close to calling it a day. Not sure what's ticking me off, but my instant dislike to the narrating style of Craig Wasson is clearly not helping me get along. So, becfore I get completely thrown off books for the rest of the month/season/year (pick one), I'm switching to something else.

After reading this book for the first time in highschool in Dutch translation, it's time to listen to this one in English.

I don't think I've read this book before but some scenes seem «déjà vu» or rather « déjà lu». I'm really enjoying listening to audio books while driving to work though. Two lost hours a day that are now put to good use. Who didn't I think of this before?

Having finished the January book for the group, I'm returning to imperial China.

I joined a new Goodreads group yesterday and this is the January group read, so I am putting Empress Orchid aside so I can finish this one before the end of the week.

As always the Chinese names are a but tricky to remember, but this is promising to be a very enjoyable read.

Why did I start reading this one in French? No idea, but I am so used to reading in English these days that I find other languages slow reads. I think I'll probably start this book over in its original language. So I'm removing this one from the currently reading shelf...

The book in itself is not so bad, but is clearly not meant to be read in ebook format. Every chapter has numerous footnotes at the end of it and although getting to the related footnote is easy, coming back to where you were isn't. Maybe I'd progress if I didn't bother with the footnotes at all ...

This one reads a bit slower than her other novels ... maybe because I don't find the main character all that likeable.
