Finished the first two arcs. Amazing so far. I’ve heard for years how good this run is, and Ed Brubaker is (maybe) my favorite comic writer of all time, so eventually I knew I had to read this. I haven’t read much of Greg Rucka yet, but I’ve heard good things about his work. So far this is really, really good.

Good so far. I think the author makes an argument for religion being the bedrock of politics that I’m not entirely sold on, but seems plausible. The line of how politics was conceived is also plausible and easy to follow.

Good. Probably not ideal for someone like me with only a little knowledge of the law, but still informative.

Enjoying the characters so far. Blanchard, Bleichert, and Kay have an….interesting dynamic. I get the sense the story will subvert some expectations because we already see Bleichert avoiding the whole ‘sleeping with your partner’s wife’ thing, and it doesn’t seem like Blanchard really cares so I’m unsure if it’ll lead to conflict between them. I’m also enjoying the prose and dialogue. So far so good.

So this is a compilation of essays, speeches, and writings of Noam Chomsky collected in three books about a wide range of topics. The first chapter is about US foreign policy and is a grim reminder of just how deeply involved the US has been all over the globe.
