Walked into the bookstore to look for something else and was met with a red wall of The Secret of Secrets, without knowing there was a new book out.
Yoink!
Upon starting it I have to smile, my instincts were right about the general subject matter an methinks many synchronicities will reveal themselves in relation my life trajectory and writings.

No author has me turning pages faster than Dan Brown lol

What a brilliant read, the depth of understanding of life through nature is music to my heart

Already finding this utterly delightful, after finishing the 25 page introduction (in roman numerals and thus not included in the overall page count) by her daughter and grandson.
They are speaking my universal language of knowing the value of time, love, connections and sharing.
Excited to next read of Carol's own words on writing, as this is the year my own writings will begin to be published and shared.

Every time I read about Neil's loss of daughter then wife, so lose together, I cry a bit. Just as when I heard it in real time back in 1997 and 1998.
And what his friends and band mates did to be patient and be there for him.

Am learning that the more I read about Geddy, and thank him for being honest in self-reflection . . . the less I like him and appreciate Alex and Neil for who they were. Still, much respect for this talent and dogged artistic determinism to have been so loyal to the music and his bandmates and best friends.
The selfishness that served the music and his art had the collateral damage in other areas, though.

Chapter 3 was a hard read, emotionally, as Geddy recounts his parents' and others experiences in the concentration camps of WW2. The worst of humanity on grim display while glimmers of hope and true miracles of compassion kept hope and his parents alive, leading to this book and the music of Rush ever happening. I am ever grateful for it and cannot read on yet as I contemplate the full weight of it all.
