Really struggling with this despite enjoying his last book. Considering DNFing because it just feels so trite and overexplained.

I might not be able to make it through this sentence…

Strongly considering DNFing at 65%. This takes slice-of-life to its most banal.

So far my feeling is that this book could’ve just been an article.

I would’ve DNF’d at the end of the first chapter if this book wasn’t for book club

I read the first chapter and I can already tell is going to be a tough one to get through

Oh man I’m really tempted to DNF. I see where this is going and not feeling it at all, I find the characters so flat and boring and so little has happened.

Made it more than a third and not sure if I’ll continue. So far the marketing calling it the Japanese Breaking Bad seems wildly misplaced at best and like a deliberate bait-and-switch at worst. Also needs an editor! This is definitely longer than it needs to be.

Feeling like this might be a DNF…

I really want to get through this book because it was a gift, but I really just hate it…
