Batman: Under the Red Hood - The Deluxe Edition
Oh husbant… you spend too much time infiltrating Gotham’s organised crime circles and enacting your great revenge plan instead of getting a real job… now we are homeless…

Recently I've not been having the time to read as much as I would like (woman is surprised that academically straining program she willingly enrolled in is indeed academically straining). But so far this book has been quite interesting, I especially enjoy the way in which intellectual discussions between characters are allowed to take place in mundane settings without the need for some upholding grandiose environment

‘Since it is undoubtedly beyond the powers of a mere mortal to remember the expression given above for curl F in Cartesian coordinates [Equation (III-7b)], it is fortunate that there is a mnemonic device to fall back on.’

Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson (Yale Nota Bene)
I feel like I’m reading the transcript of those 8 hour long ‘the truth about the great goddess and how the masculine and the feminine battle within the realm of the material’ video essays whose accounts’ names are probably something along the lines of ‘The enlightened sage’ and have some random grandfathers in their comment section talking about how leftism is behind the fall of the west

why would one grieve over this?’

American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer
For now this has been such a captivating piece… I am not someone that usually enjoys biographies but honestly the way the author is able to mention throughout the different chapters some of the books Oppenheimer was reading at the time makes this all the more immersive…

The Cult of the Virgin Mary
Description of various Mediterranean female deities (mainly Sumerian, Akkadian and Babylonian) with motherly (/creational) facets to their being. Most of these divine variations possess also some element of sexual promiscuity which prevents the possibility of eventual transformation into the image of the Virgin Mary (possesses both the motherly, the divine but also the strictly virgin aspect).

The Cult of the Virgin Mary
Interesting introduction to the conceptualisation of the Virgin Mary within southern and eastern Christian movements, developing upon both Catholic and Orthodox perceptions of Mary's possible postpartum virginity, exploring the presence (or lack there of) of indications towards Mary's possible divine status and different forms of worship between these varying sects.

my calculus lectures have allowed me to meet a math major (stay away from those) that not only likes VNC but also has the entire set of the French editions, so I’m finally picking these back up since she’s lending me hers!!…perhaps… perhaps the British do have some redeeming qualities…

Though I always find Battaile’s ideas a rather rich source of themes for reflection, I always find it quite disheartening that his writings took place during a period where animal life and its intricacies were disregarded as inferior to that of man which leads to rather erroneous conclusions in his part when related to animal biology and behaviour
