i wanted to read smthin star crossed lovey (post watching the new demon slayer movie ... bc douma... NO PLEASE DONT SHAME ME 😭 I DONT ACTUALLY SHIP SHINOBU W DOUMA 😭) but i somehow picked this up and it's completely different but im very much locked in

so main arguments rn are
porn harms women (directly and indirectly)
porn harms men's health

which is TRUE, it does!!! and thats all we need to stop consuming it but the arguments being the same for 20 chapters is getting a bit (VERY!!!) repetitive and boring

i dont even know where to start
its beautiful, heartbreaking and eye opening
vincent was more of a feeler so she wrote a book for him that explored feelings
james, a thinker, so she explores more philosophy/facts/logic

people often love you and honour you the way that they want to be or what they're used to

good intentions but yiyun shows us that even though they are gone, we must uphold values true to them

enjoying this so far! i grew up listening to copious amounts of kpop from 2011 - 2016 and still dabble in it today so its interesting to read a part-memoir-part-social-criticism-part-history piece

one tiny gripe is that the author reuses a lot of lines so im left thinking... wait i swear i read this already??? its more than okay to rehash ideas but she uses the same exact line... to rehash... :| its a bit lazy imo

chapter 3... what the HELLY

kinda blitzing through it and im not sure if its because im reading it on an ereader (my partner got me one 😭!!!) or because its intriguing or bc its just an overall easy read... chapter 1 and 2 are ok
chapter 1 felt a bit long winded

fuark had to skip the entire section in 28 days later bc i still need to watch that w my partner lol
fyi i hate 28 years later and if you liked it.. ? we will never be on the same wavelength

bit man hatey which i get... i just thought there would be a bit more science going into it which might crop up in later chapters?

love horror, scared to watch so i read summaries about it instead? works for me!!! this is well written and has a very palatable format that im enjoying so far. i haven't read the horror movies that have been explored so far so can't say for sure if the summaries are accurate but i think that the book definitely capture the essence of what the movie was trying to portray.

im about to put myself into a reading slump because i keep picking boring ass books to read ┻⁠┻⁠︵⁠ヽ⁠(⁠`⁠Д⁠´⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠︵⁠┻⁠┻

the audiobook is quite good but the story itself is kinda boring lol-

i love the audiobook and so does my bf

its okay... the tips aren't anything revolutionary so far but its probably because i'm still at the beginning of the book? i also like to tinker with the way i do things so i've already implemented some of these tips organically just by maturing :-)

started a new job thats kinda my dream job (⁠｡⁠•̀⁠ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧
have some bad habits i picked up from my old job i need to break
also i havent picked up a book in forever so something light, easy and applicable to my current life situation should help kickstart some much deserved reading!
