Damn, it is heartbreaking reading this woman's memoir knowing that she died by suicide not long after writing it.

I enjoy Alex Finlay's novels, but I hate when he occasionally tries to hint at politics in a wishy-washy, "can't we all just get along" kind of way. No, Mr. Finlay, we cannot just get along with people who want to oppress and persecute us. Sorry to harsh your mellow.

Slightly annoyed that the cool girl's name is Jack. Imagine the cool guy being named Mary. Wouldn't happen. A female name is seen as belittling. Why? Because we think women are inferior.

Interesting how Kay Scarpetta is such an adult at all times. I can't imagine her using the word "adulting".

I can't help picturing Savvy as Kaley Cuoco. She'd be perfect for the part.

The repeated mentions of a particular brand of stout feel contrived, like product placement. And also affectedly macho, like something a male author would project onto a female character to show that she's cool: "She's not like other girls, no wimpy white wine spritzers for her, she drinks this ridiculously overpriced pretentious yuppie stout!" Wtf?

Why are all these women such crazy dingbats? I don't know why I'm still reading this dreck.

Googling, I see that there really was a Land of Oz theme park - not in WV, but in NC, where Patricia Cornwell grew up. It operated during the 70s and fell into creepy disrepair in the 80s.

Enjoying so far, especially the depiction of the ridiculous Twitter crusaders. But I'm afraid it's going to end up like "My Dark Vanessa" with the narrator finally accepting that the ridiculous Twitter crusaders are right and that every upper middle class white woman who's ever had a guy put his hand on her knee has totally been as marginalized and traumatized as a sexually trafficked 9 year old.

I don't have the words to express how good this book is. Finally, a female character I can relate to. It feels important, at least to me. Ugh, I have too many things to say.

I really dislike present-tense narration. This is very quirky writing, but I'm interested enough in the story to keep reading.

I'm definitely never going to Reykjavik.

Excellent...but I'm subtracting a star for the Convenient Miscarriage. That's such a copout.

Every conservative needs to read this book as a reminder: this is what happens when there's no oversight!
