It always takes me a good 150 pages or so to get into a Dickens novel but now we’re trucking along.

Ending my year of Flannery.

Wow. Reading this book was like watching Lost.

“The average man, in his petty limitations, is further removed from the world of the most simple saint, with the most modest natural endowment, such as St. John Vianney, than he is from the rich intellectual world of a Goethe.”

And right here, at a true cliff-hanger… is where my copy is inexplicably missing the next 13 pages.
