MGH IHP common reading! Good stuff

this is a tough read

as if I haven’t been angry enough about various things lately

running out of time

finally starting my book club book five days before we meet 🥲 wish me luck.

also cool to read this right after Ocean Vuong, for whom James Baldwin was a huge inspiration!

this book is beautifully written no doubt but there are times when he’ll begin a story and then too quickly say something that feels more pretty than real and then the story doesn’t quite get to develop. maybe that’s supposed to be part of the point idk

so glad Emily Henry’s characters never go to therapy. these books would be so much shorter

goofy as hell concept lol

Why did I do an audiobook for this one??? There are so many little lines I want to highlight and save esp around this point but now it would require too much effort to look for them in the ebook!

a devastating point in the plot at which to have to stop but alas it is bed time

I want to know what happened!!!

her writing is just so fun and real

I don’t know whether I wanna commit to this book yet but omg main character just said Denver Airport to Boston Logan and my brain said !!!

finally a good book club book

I mean I already know I’m in for an absolute treat. However, discrepancies between the ebook and audiobook appear frequently, so I would not recommend listening to the narration and following along with the text bc the differences are quite distracting

this book makes me feel stupid bc why do I not get the hype? I’m sure there’s metaphors I’m not recognizing just from how annoyed I am at the contents of the book. I’ve been stuck on it for too long and can’t wait to be done soon
