Fascinating detail, learning a lot. I just wish it was not a constant mockery, but more occasional when truly surprised.

Galeotti is undoubtedly the new Kremlinologist, deciphering decisions and motives. He writes well, concisely. This has been a slow burn so far, Russian intervention in Ukraine only starting to come into Chapter 9 (of 14). I hope this book will add to his podcast discussions last summer about the coup attempt.

A real insight into how difficult life was/is again under the Taliban for women. My only criticism is that the narrative can be slowed down sometimes with extraneous detail eg she 'logged into Facebook, scrolled through the news...' Zuchoff is still an outstanding storyteller nonetheless.

Fascinating account, well written and insightful even if you have read numerous accounts. I enjoyed the audio version read by the author himself. My only slight criticism is that sometimes the build up to meetings is a bit tedious and drawn out, could have been 30pgs shorter.

I found it weighed down with historical tid bits in the first third of the book. Around chapter 6 it picks up as a travel exploration book I was expecting.

The concentration details are still horrific after so many chapters but Fairweather does a good job breaking it up with details about events outside the camp. He also explains why the West could not bring themselves to believe the true genocidal horror, adding context from British experiences with & use of disinformation during WWI.

Fast paced start, great sense of how overwhelmed Poland was at the outbreak of WWII. Thoroughly enjoying David Rintoul's narration.

Some of Lauda's youthful antics and encounters with personalities such as Mr Ferrari are hilarious! Sometimes a bit matter of fact and preachy.
