His story touches you without making it sounds overly tearjerking. He describes the irony of life so sensibly that it brings you laughter and tears.
The story is touching (in both a sad and joyful way) not because of how dramatic the events are, but because of the feelings behind them; the tangled emotions and desperation we all experienced as a human being. I am now officially a Backman fan.

It's the book I highlighted almost as much as my immunology textbooks. too much important stuff.
