I told my mom I started a book I thought she would like a lot (this book), and she responded by telling me “oh my gosh, they made that into a movie, and it’s so good! That book is on my list” ❤️

Man this book started off so strong, then took such an unfortunate turn. And Ella is a somewhat bad person.

I just found out that Lisa See is 1/8 Chinese but essentially claims to be Chinese, argues she is Chinese, and only writes about Chinese things. I get she has Chinese family but is she really the right person to tell this story? I feel incredibly conflicted learning all this, and I don’t know what the right thing is to do. Would you finish it? Am I overreacting?
