Well - this text is revolutionary. Not only does Cedric Robinson lay out the distinct history of European racism, but he also explores the complexity of Black rebellion. All while critiquing Marx/marxists for failing to consider race/gender in the quest for freedom. I'm halfway through and I feel my political beliefs changing with each page I read.

I have only read the forward & preface and this diary is already haunting me.

Primo Levi is a fantastic writer. So far his story of survival is as expected, deeply sobering. It is a reminder of the horrifying reality of fascism and ethnic cleansing.

I'm getting whiplash from the amount of times the character POV changes, but this story premise is so unique I will allow it.

I’m intrigued by the premise.

So far this is about child labour. It's a difficult subject to grapple with, but the author is doing an excellent job. The complex sibling relationship between the main character and the friendship he is forming with a fellow captive, is well done thus far.
