god .. substance abuse disorder is so bleak and tragic 😔

i have always had an interest in american scandals and whistleblowers and recently also got into the American Scandals podcast by wondery. this book is so good and have been taking my time with it. i have been reading it on and off for a few months now

the fact that i found a signed first edition of this on ebay during my rewatch of the nanny is a blessing and proof that god is probably a woman and maybe even a libra, idk idk

okay i've decided i do not care for the footnotes from cate. it feels too try-hard, part of the fun of reading a multiple perspective book is getting to decide whose point of view(s) you agree with, who is unreliable, which perspectives conflict, draw comparisons, and decipher how the characters interact with each other and the difference in their interpretations of a moment. the footnotes take away the imagination.

intriguing so far but kinda wishing it was linear; the braided multiple perspectives already mixes the narrative up a lot and it's a tad hard to follow at times

this book is sucking me innnnnnn

picked up at Indie bookstore day! love that it takes place in Boston (a home turf city for me)
