Captivating story of a black who feels he has to protect his son by lightening his birthmark. Prose is beautiful; adventure’s poignant in today’s political climate.

Loved this complex story of friends in southern Ohio in the early 20th century. “Read you a dream.”

This translation is beautifully done. I am enjoying more than ever. The influence of this tale is throughout the history of storytelling is so much clearer with this updated version. Enjoy
