I really am enjoying this book. In school. Professors would assign a bit of a paragraph here and there. Reading straight through is very rewarding.

Tom Brokaw’s wonderful book does, from a very different viewpoint what Studs Terkel did in WORKING and THE GOOD WAR. Brokaw is a reporter, a good reporter, of history as he observed and experienced it. Terkel did interviews with individuals who were there. Very different books, equally fascinating. Read Brokaw’s book. Make time for Terkel’s books too!

Reading this again. Magic.

Loving Father Brown! A Classic!

This is an interesting book. I can't help but compare it to Studs Terkel's THE GREATEST GENERATION, though being a Chicagoan and acquaintance of Studs, I may be a bit prejudiced. But this book is no slouch. I'm pacing myself, stopping to take in what I've read before moving on. I recommend this as a good social history of the time.

I've been told that behind evéy great man is a fabulously intelligent woman. Winston Churchill practiced lifelong emotional blackmail on his woe, children friends and dtrangers. He was a bully and invited his catamotes to tea and parties.in lieu of killing him, they had separate bedrooms and separate vacations. I would have murdered him in his sleep.

Delightful romp through religions and their afterlives, deities and the occupants and political machinations. A very fun read and just the antidote for a long spell of serious reading! What a silly series! Just delightful!

I am paused in reading this until my migraine clears completely. Sometimes that's weeks.

I suspecct I'm only reading this because I've invested a few days in the first two.

So many books, so little time!

In a book, if it's a fun read, I usually read as many pages as I have years lived. This is another familiar re-read.

These are stories from my childhood. At 61, I felt a need to revisit them.

Amazing fiction, travel companion stories. Highly recommended.

Delightful read!
