Returned to this in a big way, teared up at work to something i shan't spoil. Dumas's prose is not the most ambitious or impressive work ever, but when it excels it is truly sublime.
Given the pacing as well, there's a part of me that wishes I had got to this point in the plot around page 400, just because I wanted to live with these characters and these intimate moments that much longer.
God I love books so much.

My first "Penguin Book of _____" which I am reading, just in time for the season. Very fascinating stuff :D

Following the serialized schedule of this work, much like what I tried (and to be completely honest, failed) doing with reading daily chapters of Tolstoy's War and Peace. This as a project is much more manageable, and more exciting. 6 chapters in and I am hooked into Dumas's world. Love it.

Of the two New Directions pressings of collected heteronyms, both are incredible, but there are lines and poems in here which I'll be lamenting for a very very long time. Immaculate

Reading this alongside my girlfriend—only some dozen pages in and we both cried. How a teenager describes so well the trans thought process while only barely truly discovering himself is just miraculous.

Part 1 ✅️

A part of me is still shocked just under 200 pages in at how, *not impenetrable* this is. Compared to my initial attempt at this brick I'm not only understanding more but LOVING more. Granted the wonderful Weisenburger companion is doing a hit of handholding, but still. :)

Can't wait for the final pages to leave me hollow.
