Katie Mack is delightful! She really lays out the problems of cosmology around black holes/thermodynamics in ways that are lot easier to grasp, if at least to understand what you need to as an outsider without particle physics knowledge. Mostly great nonfiction science, but also gets into some human purpose. I can’t handle abstract science because of mental illness, but I may have found a new fav science writer.

Finally found a great read among last 5 books to putter into myself being bored and disengaged. Rapt attention to every word here. I suffer from a chronic fear of death, so this book seems really horizon expanding and enlightening in ways I might not have thought to think about as a non-scientist.

Wasn’t expecting this to be a very cathartic book about the importance of books and positive psychology. Anti-suicide story, and I’m all here for it.

Terrific insight into a life of comedy, breaking into SNL, something I’ve dreamed of myself. Utterly devastating chapter on Chris Farley, whom everyone loved, but yeah, I’d say f that chip and dales sketch too. Really fantastic anecdotes on what entails being a comedy writer.

Utterly delightful. It’s a study on behavior of the ultra rich, feels really well homeworked. Feels like an elevated importance-of-having-a-boyfriend book, but social enigmas and behavioral studies, as well as defying underestimation.

It’s so hard to put down this spy novel. I would never get anything else accomplished if I read all day. Ian Fleming is that addictive. Though his sexism is problematic, Ernest Hemingway had similar issues. Would these stories exist without their authors? Wonderful little details and insights that give so much life to life. James Bond faces the physical and real evil of dirty money.

Kind of sexist, but I look at it as Ian Fleming was an actual double agent, and some of them may be that way towards women. I don’t condone it or support it, makes the building romance unrealistic. But I do want to read a spy novel as much of a fan as I am of the movies. Art≠artist. What if Casino Royale had no author? But greatly intrigued with the richer context of the book.

Really captivating and delineating. The lines between the seeming innocence of feminine homosexuality and the raw, abusive toxic masculinity of a particular cowboy inclined towards education and yet ignorance in emotion and empathy. More context in the book than in the movie, more pleasurable to read.

Remarkable. One persons journey through grief and loss, really helps me understand my own relationships.

Wonderful little memoir. love having glimpse of very well written about Korean American life. But also, I really connect with passage of remembrance and grief, having lost my own grandfather 10 years ago. Makes me pay closer attention to family traditions that I take for granted, the loving corrections. My fathers side is all about stew, barbecue, and chicken fried steak, and I think about moms lasagna. Great insight

Not one of the more thoughtful or philosophical comic books like Ta-Naheesi Coates or Alan Moore, but great campy fun at any rate!

A bit muddled towards the end of part 2. Maybe it’s a language barrier, but seems incoherent. Certainly the first part had wonderful poems that really are full of great reflection. Overall, I really like Tomas Transtromer. More conclusive analysis to follow the finishing of Half Finished Heaven.

I have effectively had my horizons expanded by Carl Sagan’s original talk of star stuff. Magnificent and awe inspiring.
