Re-reading this has been rough. Topping the list at the moment is all the loser and slug talk, don’t procreate with losers, constantly judging everyone and so sure her moral compass and world views are the only way. Why didn’t this bother me more 12 years ago?!

I just can't do it. I'm usually able to suspend belief pretty easily for a book, but this was just too much.

I just can't get over feeling like I'm experiencing mental whiplash with this book. I'm going to shelve it DNF for now and maybe come back to it another time.

Can no one speak up or do the right thing in this book?

I'm just having such a hard time getting into this. There's so many characters and I'm not connecting or liking any of them.

Seriously the protagonist is an idiot. For being a prior investigative reporter and now a advice columnist she has no clue how to communicate.

Having a hard time with this one. Maybe because it's written in second person and that makes it harder for me suspend disbelief.

I'm having a really hard time believing the main couple has been happily together for over 20 years with what is coming across as complete emotional distance, awkwardness, and secrets. Also, I'm just not connecting with the protagonist on her own. She seems too incredibly naive and unbelievable.

What's up with all the acronyms, abbreviations, and such? Has it always been this bad and I'm just now noticing or is something that is common to Maxine's writing?
