Excellent book, low country charm with neurotic northern transplant. Now that sounds funny, but honestly it's not... got a lot of layers to this story. That's obvious from the get go because of all the flashbacks going back 3 generations. Fear, overcoming fear I think will be the central emotion being dealt with. So far the characters are all very interesting and I'm looking forward to getting to know them.

The journey to Indian Country was fascinating, loved it.... so far Indian country is confusing and a bit of a drag. Apparently the woman for the most part are being used for manual labor... with a few pushing for more. Communication is a huge issue, but this is a Journal of May Dodd so fortunately we have her voice. I'm sure it'll pick up I'm just not being patient enough.

Narration is excellent and story grips you right from the start. No slow start for this book. As titled this is a Journal of a woman who was traded to the Sioux Indians along with 1000 other white women for a promise of freedom for May and safe travel for settlers. Obviously very centered on her experience. But I can tell already this is a great read. Historical, Women's Fiction - Time after the Civil War.

Pretty good, but I can't believe a third of the way through Beth hasn't figured out yet that she fell through time. Circumstances helped and her stubbornness.

Sam's suspended but a case finds her, a child abducted 30 years ago thinks he's that missing child. Problem is his father is the Director of the FBI. Lots of Sam, Nick so far which I always prefer. Police procedure is really soft so far, if your looking for a cop who is less emotionally driven this book isn't for you. She's a cowboy, accept and enjoy.

Virgin river has some real gems, but it also has rehashed plots. So after book 7-8 I started to pick through them and focus on certain "families". It was getting a little redundant focusing solely on Jack's buddies.

This one though is quite good because it involves one the Riordan Boys, now that they've run out of Jack's army buddies. I love how the authors sprinkles a little Jack in every book though.

This one instead of taking place in England, takes place in a foreign country where Alec has made a very dangerous enemy. Based on the little I know of the enemy it's safe to say she's nuts but powerful. Very intriguing.

Alec is extremely likeable and clearly wronged, that part of the equation is crystal clear after the first 10 pages.

Evil brother is his nemesis and he an Earl, but is he really. Something very twisted about the brother, also about his dead mother and her actions. Looking forward to some light being shed on this.

Looking forward to the rest, Listening to it with Alex Wyndham, great voicing.

Not bad, it's taking a while to build up this story is about 3 friends in the Airline Industry... hence the name. Feels more chick-lit than romance but I have a feeling it'll change.

So far pretty disappointing, unlike Winter Seas the flashback or memories are a third of the way through of an 8 year old child. I assume we'll see her grow, but it's losing my attention. Timeframe early Jacobite rebellions near 1715.

Half way through so far it's pretty good. Keeps me thinking, who is the killer... my guess the reverend. he's feels slimy though we've only met him once. If not the killer than he's the match.

This plays out like an old movie, think 60's The Long Hot Summer with Newman and Woodward or maybe Peyton Place. This has a serial killer which is definitely a twist away. But a lot of the vices are the same. Narrator Tom Stechshulte is doing an excellent job with the southern.

Heat plays a character in this novel, you feel it dripping off every leaf. Reminds me of one of those old movies where everything sits as it should till someone pulls a shot gun out.

This book is easy to put down and pick up, it keeps you company when your not sure what to read next. I think I read it more for DG's excellent writing than for anything else. Historical mysteries need more than fleshing out of characters unfortunately DG really enjoys that part of her writing. I'll keep at it.. but it most likely will take weeks to complete.

Great start, totally absorbed. One writing lesson every writer should take note of... descriptive and scene setting is fine, but nothing grabs a reader by throat like a big bang right from the start.

This improved greatly after my last update 35% now I'm at 75%. Apparently it needed a build up, lots of traipsing in Indian country and now they're back in Paradise... so about 40% of the book was on the run. Improved it.

Took a little break, it was a bit slow. Re-read Drums of Autumn. I admit the first time through I rushed through the whole scene with Roger/Jamie and Ian (and the events that followed. I was to anxious the first time to have the patience to listen. It was excellent of course how it all came down. I'm back, now with Into the Wilderness show down with Elizabeth and Richard.

It's good, so far it reminds me more of Outlanders' ABOSA (book 6) where mountain life is the focus. No adventure really so far, this is why Outlander on STARZ is attractive to males because it's always about danger an adventure and for us females' it's about never stopping at anything for the one you love. Hope it picks up, it's good but NO big bang to start. I'm in hour 4 of 30.

I'm so slow at this book, I want to know but I don't. Historic fiction that uses a devious family or a crushing battle as it's center point can be a trial. It's interesting historically but I'm finding I don't stop reading because I'm forced to get something done with a smile or with heart palpitations because the suspense has gotten to the nail biting level. I'm just sad. It's extremely well written.

Getting better, starting to feel for Elizabeth and Edward. The backstabbing master Lord Warwick has made it happen. Though this is a woman's story "Elizabeth Woodville's". So far, I think... if I continue this history (Cousin's war) is because the history has grabbed me. Elizabeth has no charisma but displays an amazing strength that I can tell, Edward seems to have both but it's not displayed often...need more

I'm enjoying it, only references here and there to Jamie but Lord John Grey's internal thoughts are quite amusing at times. He's investigating two separate things, yet are they the same? Makes me wonder now that I'm 50% in.
