Love was powerful because it could hurt you…it was messy and graceless. It went wrong, it even died. But…it didn’t have to destroy it. It could report and grow again; it could still come back.

It was our pain that pulled us together like magnets, that medicinal click of solidarity between two hurting people. But as powerful as pain might be, it was never going to keep us together. The thing that built us destroyed and somehow we didn’t see it coming.

Hate is anemic when love hangs around like turpentine in the upholstery.

Loss is loss regardless of gains that come later.
