There’s something very demoralizing about reading the line “Not having friends to eat with, he reads over lunch,” while you are, in fact, reading during lunch. This is just my personal preference, sally.

Yes I have 4 books taken out from the library and 3 books I already started and yes I am re-reading this. I missed sally rooney okay?!

This writing is a bit too booktok for my taste, and I think I found a missing word sentence early on. I soldier on nonetheless

Typo on page 14

2 pages later she writes “your love was worth far more than the pain of losing you”. These kind of sentences always reach out and grab me.

She used the word co*chie. Oh my god

1 gratuitous and unnecessary allusion to violent rape so far. Not my thing! But sticking around

This feels like a competition for who has the most tragic backstory.

“When something good happens to you at that age, you can’t settle with the notion that it’s a one-off. You want it to be the beginning of a tradition.” So true, that age being 22

I can read about 10 pages of this at a time. Every chapter feels the same.

This book is RIFE with errors- were no proofreaders available?? She must’ve used at least a little bit of AI, because her earlier books don’t have the same problem. I’m going to finish it just to make sure the one-star review is justified.

Second paragraph: “I called, putting a ten down for my lunch”
Later paragraph ON THE SAME PAGE: “So I put a ten down on the table for my food…”

Wtf. Was your food $20? Or you just forgot you already wrote that less than a page ago…

I think I might be locked in a prison of my own nostalgia.

I’ve read 4 other books since I started this one. That should tell you how into it I am. I’m finally starting to actually want to read it.
