Its giving me the feeling and vibe I wanted to get from House of Leaves so far

Jason's chapter was both the easiest to read and the funniest chapter so far. Dude is much more functional than he has any right to be considering the insanity he grew up with.

This is exactly as boring as I expected a translated court record from the hundred years war to be. I do find it funny that they bring in like 40 experts for all these hearings and Joan is like a schizo 19 year old

Interesting start. Learning a lot about a specific region/part of American history you don't cover all that much in school... at least as far as I remember.

Moving forward i wont double check every source as they've become fairly monotonous. might go back later if some part of the story compels me.

I can only imagine reading this book in 2000, finding it on a shelf and reading it without flipping through the pages first. Some magic is lost, I feel, when you use the internet to look up the cited sources and generally the top results are from readers before me already having figured out the answers to any question I could have on a first read.

me being anal about footnotes and references seem to be making this very exciting so far

Didn't expect a woman to be top 2 characters in the western written by a man in 1985 but here we are.

feels like a third of this already short book is background information of dubious usefulness. I was actually hoping this book to be more dry and less like someone telling a story of a real dudes life

So far not a "He just like me FR" book. TBH i'd rather take a soil science course than a survey of english lit course any day of the week.
