Somewhere I must've read a list of true - crime ish books and bookmarked them as this the second one I've read in as many months. This one may be as weird as the last one but both have kept me engaged and interested!

This series is what the world needs right now. Forget everything that is happening and making us all crazy and curl up with a book from this series. A librarian stranded on a island that has a beautiful enchanted greenhouse, sentient plants that are sassy and funny, and a handsome gardener. They live in a cozy house, eat delicious food, and try to save the greenhouse with magic. It's a soothing, comforting read.

I picked this one up because I was stressed and it's about hiking, finding yourself, and hey, it's Katherine Center. It wasn't until later the title kept itching at my brain and I realized I'd watched the movie on Netflix a couple of years ago. I was disappointed in the movie, but we all know the book is better and so far that's proving to be true.

If you are very familiar with the Throne of Glass series, I highly recommend a tandem read of books 2 & 4!

I am listening to book 2 and reading book 4 and it's delightful. Maybe because they deal with both sides of Celaena and Chaol's story. Maybe because they both take place in Rifthold. Maybe because book 3 is such a pivotal book and it's a "before" and "after." It could be all of these things!

Listening in 20 minute spurts back and forth to work with my husband makes for very disjointed listening - we need a longer drive!

I'm really enjoying this series - although some of the themes don't age well as this one has several prejudices evident.

My first Katherine Center read!

I always struggle through the first read of each installment in this series and swear I'm not going to read the rest, but what I've found is that I am invested in the characters and the story and enjoy the re read even if those first reads are rough.

This is another rough one. Riven and Keera are fighting again - or are they? Keera is full of guilt, again. Inconsistency in storyline.

My hold for this audiobook came in so Clive Cussler has to wait.

Ally Carter is an auto read for me - if she writes it, I’ll read it. I love an enemies to lovers where the guy falls first and it’s so obvious. I just read a perfect heartbreak scene, just oof. Got me.

I really had no interest in reading this as I wasn’t that impressed with book one but I’ve seen several things about the book that interest me. Plus, book one’s ending is similar to the ending of Iron Flame and I want some ideas of what could happen in Onyx Storm. ☺️

Goodreads doesn't have the audiobook edition listed, interesting. I needed and audioobok and this was the first available one on Libby. Great choice! It's high school drama but in an innocent way. No swearing and no sex scenes.

Listening to prepare for book 2!

Very cute and fun - closed door even!

I'm already loving that Cindy's stepmother and stepsisters aren't evil. They seem to have a good relationship and have a lot of fun. Nice change from the original.

I currently listened to Iron Flame on audio to prepare for Onyx Storm in January, I found I couldn't remember important details about Venin so I decided to reread this to tab it up and pay attention to key details.

I won book 2 in the goodreads ARC giveaway but did not feel like I remembered book 1 well enough to dive into 2. Back to the beginning!

Slow mover. A realistic look at a case that has no obvious suspects. Police work isn't always excitement and adrenaline, sometimes it's just putting in the work.

Cute coming of age story set in the 50's.

Read this or the rom com I had on tap?? That is the question....

I was going to read this next and then the new Karin Slaughter arrived....not sure which I'll dive into next.

A friend is reading the ACOTAR series for the first time and I told her when she got to this book I'd read with her because I've forgotten a lot of this one.

Onto part 3! How many pages did Iron Flame have? I feel like it was similar in pages and yet this one does not feel like a slog like that one did.

Struggling with my current read and I really wanted to get to this one. I listened to the audiobook of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Christmas Day and then watched the movie on one of these many snow days. Have to read this too to finish it out!

I started this back in Sept? Oct? and was going gangbusters on it. Reading everyday, feeling super encouraged and inspired and then I just stopped. Don't know why, don't have a reason, I just stopped. I'm determined to finish it this year though so I've picked it up again.
