Part 1 was good, though I saw most of it as just re-hashing theory that had already been established by the ancient rhetoricians, excluding the addition of the universal audience. However, I saw it as necessary given that the book's aim is to do away with the geometrical method of argumentation established by Descartes.

The 1st half of the 2nd section was mostly just vocabulary imo, and the 2nd half was peripheral.

This is hard to read 😿. I'm understanding more as I go but damn this is difficult.

Here's a cool quote: "Material force can only be overthrown by material force; but theory itself becomes a material force when it has seized the masses" (47).
