A “just for fun” read while inching through the message

Really interesting and dynamic - in journaling while I read it so I can let my brain ponder and wonder on the topics surfaced. Making slow progress, it’s a reading experience reminiscent of Morrison where I deeply appreciate it and yet I know it might not be “for me” in the truest sense so I’m absorbing and holding what I can!

Gonna be slow and sad I think! Liking it though, very atmospheric and pensive, I don’t anticipate much plot!

Ripping through this audio book because my paper copy hasn’t come in the mail yet! Lowkey gonna finish the audio book before it even arrives!

The audiobook is really engaging and feels like someone telling a great myth / story so it’s really captivating!

I knew the ending was gonna be absolutely devastating and have some ironic / tongue and cheek twist but yeah wow

Plot: 26 year old daughter moves home to the Adirondacks to care for her 74 year old Dad who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

My Reading Setting: Reading this book as a 27 year old woman with my 71 year old dad, in his childhood “home” in the Adirondacks!

LR;DR: this experience might wreck me but I’m ready for it!!

Knew my dad would LOVE this book based on the plot and a podcast I listened to about it so we’re buddy reading (aka both reading it at the same time but different copies) while we are on vacation.

He’s a bit ahead of me (like 50 pages). We’re both enjoying it and it feels like a book we’re on first read you only get 30% of what you’re meant to understand. Will require rereading!!

Picked up this book in a local bookstore in London, author is London based and seems to be a lesser known writer but I loved the prose when I perused in store so I’m excited to read this!!!

Super informative my brain is soaking up sooo much info! In my non-fiction era!
