Lowkey feel like I’m dating for potential with this book! Still intrigued by the plot and characters, yet the structure and tone is leaving something to be desired still for me! Time remains!

This book is really important for me,I’m learning so much and truly expanding my understanding of the principals and evolution of the Black Panther Party. So interesting to hear Huey Newton talk about things like Palestine, the Cuban government, American imperialism etc because it’s still relevant 50 years later and helps me understand the BPP was always about more than domestic issues of police brutality

Intercommunalism 🤯 wow, really resonating with that ideology by Huey Newton - it’s new to me to have a term for this that so well encompasses a phenomenon I can witness but struggle to succinctly summarize

Looking forward to education myself on the actual teachings and policies of The Black Panther Party! Much to read, I’m gonna take it slow since I imagine I’ll be doing lots of annotation and supplementary research! May read a second book (diff subject matter) in tandem.

I’ve really come around!!!

Okay I reframed my expectations for this reading experience and I’m feeling renewed! I’m able to better appreciate this book for what it is (and accept what it’s not). I’m enjoying it much more now!

It’s picking up a bit, listening to audio book on my commute is helping me make some meaningful progress that makes the pace less daunting.

Painfully boring I’m so disappointed- it’s so choppy and episodic! nothing builds, there is no crescendo! Ugh 🥺 just a bummer

This book is reading differently than I expected! Each chapter feels episodic, like a short story. They aren’t entirely independent but the plot is less progressive and isn’t building how I’d imagined. The era in which I was pursuing an art history minor is awakening anew in me, which is fun.

Eek I’m so excited to read this!
