starting my slow re-read/annotation for my honors paper!

alright…I can’t take this anymore. I desperately need to talk to sometime who’s read the My Brilliant Friend series.

I am so sad this series is over. I never wanted it to end. I think I’m going to go stare at my ceiling for a while.

I assumed this book would be about grief, given the title, but I did not know what subject this grief would center.
And then the mention of suicide made me feel as if I had been slammed against a wall. It came so suddenly, so unexpectedly, just as death by suicide does. I’m going to try to continue to read this because it’s beautifully written, but man. My heart is forever mourning the loss of my cousin.

I have picked this book up and put it down after an essay or two countless times over the last year and a half because it enrages me. Here’s my attempt at reading it through. I’m going to annotate my anger– not at Dworkin, but at the world that hates women even more now than it did in the 1970s, ‘80s, and ‘90s.
